LORAC Unzipped Palette Swatches and pictures!

Hey y'all! I hope you are having a great Tuesday morning! Merry Christmas Eve :) I just wanted to give you some swatches and pictures of the shades in the Lorac Unzipped palette since I didn't swatch all of them in my review video. (To watch my review video click HERE)

Anyways, lets get started!

Something I didn't address in the video (actually I forgot!) is that you're getting 10 eyeshadows. Four of the shadows are matte and six of them are shimmer. I really love this palette because it has some deep, dark shadows but it also has a good mix of neutral colors as well.

Here's a closer look at the shades in the palette. This palette is natural but also leans towards the golden neutral tones, which I love!

Here are the swatches of each of the shades:

Top row: (Right to Left)
Undercover (matte white)
Unbelieveable (shimmery gold/pink)
Unattainable (shimmery golden brown)
Unconditional (matte light purple)
Unbridled (matte burgundy)

Bottom row (right to left)
Undiscovered (shimmery peach/gold)
Unreal (shimmery light pink)
Uncensored (medium brown with golden shimmer)
Unspoken (matte teddy bear brown)
Untamed (Deep brown with golden shimmer)

The other thing I love about this palette is when you get to the shimmery shades, its not stark glitter. Its just a nice shimmer, not over the top. Overall, I thoroughly enjoy this palette and for $40?! Absolutely! :) And plus, its a perfect last minute gift!

♥

Dermalogica Cream Exfoliant review...

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are doing well on this chilly (at least where I live) Thursday morning! I just wanted to share with you my review on a new (to me) exfoliating face product. I got a little sample of it from the lady that waxes my eyebrows because I had really bad dryness around my nose, so she told me to try this exfoliating product.

I tried it out after I showered and cleansed my face like I do every morning, I applied it to my face and left it on for 15 minutes. After I washed it off I was pleasantly surprised to find that the dryness was gone! I have tried a couple other face exfoliating products and neither of them did anything for the dryness, but the difference with the Dermalogica exfoliant is that it goes deeper than just the surface of your skin. It really gets in there and pulls all the dead skin cells and such out while leaving your skin feeling refreshed afterwards.

The directions do say to not get it near your eye area or on your lips, so if you try this out be careful :) they also say that it may give you a stinging sensation which should go away pretty quick after you've applied it. Personally, I didn't feel it stinging I just felt a "cooling" effect on my skin which felt very nice. What I thought was nice is the sample that I got, you only use half of the product so you can actually get two uses out of one packet, which is great!

You only want to use this product twice a week, as with any exfoliating face product but even more so with this one because it goes a little deeper than the surface of your skin. As I use it more, I'll give you a more in depth review but so far I'm really enjoying it!

Here's the website if you want to check it out and get more information on it: http://www.dermalogica.com/

I actually went on the website this morning to check and see how much this product is full size. For me, its a little expensive. Its $39 for a tube of this product, which if it works and you really like it, I guess its worth it. But holy cow I was surprised at how expensive it is! Anyways, thats my initial review on the Dermalogica Cream Exfoliant. I go to a skin specialist called an esthetician for my eyebrow waxes and she gave me the sample. Having said that, I am in no way, shape or form a "skin specialist" so I would check with your doctor and/or dermatologist to see if this would be ok to use on your skin.

Anyways, thats it for this review! I hope you enjoyed this and I'll be be blogging again soon! Have a great day everyone!

The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

Good morning everyone! I hope y'all are having a wonderful Tuesday morning so far :) I was reading Emily's latest post on her blog yesterday, (here's a link to the post: http://www.beautybroadcast.net/2013/09/the-procrastinating-beauty-blogger-tag.html) and I loved the tag she did, so I thought it would be entertaining for my readers if I did it too! So lets get started!

1. Name a beauty regimen that you rarely do?

Let me just start off by saying, if you watch my beauty videos on youtube, you know I have short hair. And I am the kind of person that likes to get up, shower, and go without worrying about spending an hour on blow-drying my hair ;) I'll blow-dry my hair sometimes for special occasions or an event, but other than that I just wash it and let it air-dry. :)

2. Is washing your brushes something that you do regularly?

Yes, this is actually something I do probably more often than needed :) but when I clean them I use my Sigma brush cleaning glove, baby shampoo, and then I dry my brushes with the bristles pointing down in plastic cups. I also put brush guards on them as well because it helps them keep their shape. If you'd like to see my Sigma brush cleaning glove demo, click HERE

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?

Hopefully as you can see here, I let my nails chip a little bit. But I play acoustic guitar, piano, and keyboard on a regular basis so especially with guitar my nails have to be cut short all the time. Thus the reason why I hardly ever wear nail polish :)

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product, even if you need it?

Man, this one is a tough question! I will replace a product if I absolutely 100% NEED it, but otherwise I am buying different makeup products all the time because I want to try it out and review it. So that being said, I don't think I'll run out of eyeshadows any time soon because lets be honest here......backups of my backups have backups :)

5. What is your worst beauty habit?

I have to say I have a slight obsession with GREAT smelling candles! I just bought this one pictured above and when I get on a kick of buying good smelling candles, it gets kind of crazy :) I have so many I need to burn, its not even funny. I have two shelves up on my wall that have candles! But it's kind of like my makeup obsession, you have to try the latest and greatest thing! :)

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?

With my forever long healthy passion of music, I've put off buying an electric guitar for the longest time! I love the sound of it, I just have never dove deep into searching the best one out yet. Lets just say this item just might make its debut on my Christmas wishlist this year ;)

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute?

If at all possible, I leave PLENTY of time to get ready. I don't like being rushed to get ready and I don't like being late. I like to take my time in the morning so if I have to, I'll get up an hour early, just so I'll have an immense amount of time to get ready :)

8. Can you commit to spending bans?

Does what's pictured above look like I can stop myself? :) I try to put myself on a "no-buy" but it never works! Thats mainly because I want to be able to try the latest and greatest things to review for my channel/blog. But I will sometimes do a "low-buy" where I'll set a limit to how much I spend on new beauty products and I can stick to that actually. I also find enjoyment in "shopping my stash" and rediscovering old favorites.

 9. How organized is your make-up and nail polish collections?

I pretty much just have a pile going on my vanity and just reach into it from time to time. Just kidding! I'd say my collection is very organized. If you're going to have a large collection, you need to have it organized so you know what you have. I make do with the space I have, while I keep most of my makeup in my vanity, I do have a separate rolling 5 drawer sterilite container next to my vanity that holds an organized amount of makeup products. I actually have that container organized to where each drawer has all the products separated. For example, the drawer that holds my eye products, I have my eye primers in a container, eyeshadows in another separate container next to it, and so on. That helps a lot, because if I'm in some sort of time crunch I don't want to be rummaging through a disorganized drawer of  products trying to find what I want. Thankfully, everything fits into a section of my bedroom so it doesn't take up so much space, but it still helps me find things easily.

Wondering what to blog about? Do this tag! It's a lot of fun! :)

CVS Haul!

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a great Friday afternoon :) I just wanted to share with you a small haul from CVS, so lets get started!

I went to CVS yesterday with my mom to pick up some more of the CVS brand makeup wipes, and we were just browsing the section where they had all their fall decor displayed. I stumbled upon some candles, and I have a lot of candles already from Bath & Body works but they are all Spring/Winter scents. I realized I didn't have any fall scents, so I went ahead and picked one up! The scent is "Pumpkin Patch" and it smells like pumpkin spice! I looked to see what the price was: $5.99?! I thought that was a killer deal, so it was a complete impulse buy but I couldn't resist between the price and the scent :)

I put the candle on my vanity this morning and OMGosh! It fills my house with this yummy pumpkin spice scent, I love it!! And for $5.99? Absolutely! :)

Well, I hope you enjoyed this short post! I hope y'all have a great night and I'll be blogging again soon! I'm working on getting some new videos up on my channel very soon, so watch for those! :)

Olay Fresh Effects Shine Minimizing Cleanser...

Hey everyone! I hope ya'll are having a fantastic Monday afternoon! I wanted to share with you real quick a review about the Olay Fresh Effects Shine Minimizing cleanser. DISCLAIMER: I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing and reviewing purposes.

As a person with oily skin on a daily basis, I have been looking for something that would take the shine away so that my makeup would stay looking fresh all day. I've tried countless other products that claim to take shine away, and I end up disappointed. But I tried this and it really has lived up to my standards!! I am very impressed with this product and would most definitely purchase this.

I was also impressed because this not only is a cleanser but it also works great as a facial mask as well! So you're getting basically a 2-in-1, which I think is awesome!

So overall, I am very impressed with this product and I would highly recommend it! Here's the link to the Olay fresh effects website so ya'll can check it out for yourselves:  www.olayfresheffects.com

Well, thats it for this quick review of the Olay Fresh effects Minimizing cleanser! I hope ya'll have a great day and I'll be blogging again soon! :)

Expired Makeup: How long to keep and when to toss....Part 3

Hey everyone!! I hope y'all are having a great Sunday afternoon! Thanks for sticking with me throughout this new series, its been really fun! So this is the last part of this "expired makeup: how long to keep and when to toss" series and I will be covering lipsticks, lipglosses, and lip liners. So lets get started!

The first thing I'll start with is lipsticks. These are good for 2-3 years if kept tightly sealed after each use and stored in a cool place. As always, if the product starts to smell funky, dry out or change color, TOSS IT!

Next is lipglosses. Again, these are good for 2-3 years if kept tightly sealed after each use and kept away from extreme temperatures. And I know I probably sound like a broken record, but if the product changes color, smells funky or dries out, TOSS IT.

And finally, is lipliners. As already stated above, these are good for about 2-3 years if kept in a cool place and kept tightly sealed after each use.

And if you missed the last post about writing the date you opened the product on the label tip I gave, here it is again.

Remember that, once a product is opened, it starts to deteriorate. If you're like me and tend to have a lot of products on hand, open them, try them, and then move onto something else, you may want to write the date that you opened the product on the label. That way, when you pull out a mascara (for example) from 2003, you know to toss it.

Well, that completes this series on expired makeup! Thank you so much for taking time to read each of these posts, it really means a lot to me! Have a wonderful weekend and I'll be blogging again soon!

Daily Nuggets....

Expired Makeup: How long to keep and when to toss....Part 2

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a wonderful Saturday evening! This post is part two of my three part series on expired makeup. Today, I'll be covering eyeshadows, eyeliners, and mascaras. So lets get started!

The first one I'll start with is eyeshadows. Eyeshadow will last between 2-3 years as long you keep them well sealed and away from extreme temperatures. The exception is cream eyeshadow and those usually start to go bad around 12-18 months. Again, if any of the products change color, smell funky, or dry out, no matter how old they are, toss them out. That's a definite warning sign that something's wrong with them.

Next is eyeliners. These will last between 2-3 years as long as they are kept tightly sealed and away from extreme temperatures.

And lastly, is mascaras. This is one product that goes bad faster than any other cosmetic. Part of the reason this happens is because many users pump the wand in and out of the tube, allowing air into it which mixes with the chemicals and causes bacteria. Professionals say to toss mascara out after only four months even if you only use it a handful of times. You can probably get six months of wear from a mascara without any issues if you are careful not to pump the wand and keep the tube tightly closed after every use. Four to six months is such a short time, but better to be safe than sorry. Overall, the shelf life of a mascara is about 4-6 months at the most.

Remember that, once a product is opened, it starts to deteriorate. If you're like me and you tend to have a lot of products on hand, open them, try them, and then move on to something else, you may want to write the date that you opened the product on the label. That way, if you pull out a mascara from 2003, you know to toss it ;)

Well, thats it for the second installment of this three part series on expired makeup! I hope y'all enjoyed this and I hope it was helpful for you. Regardless if you're new to makeup or you're a veteran, it is always nice to have a little reminder every now and then :)

I hope you have a great night and I'll be blogging again soon! Please stay tuned for the last part of this series coming hopefully next week which will cover lipsticks, lip liners, and lip glosses :)

Expired Makeup: How long to keep and when to toss.... Part 1

Hey Everyone! I hope y'all are having a great Wednesday afternoon! I wanted to do a three part series on expired makeup products and how long you should keep them for. This first part will cover foundation (liquid, cream, powder, and mineral) blush, face powder, and bronzer. So lets get started!

With liquid and cream foundations, the shelf life is about 6 months to 1 year. If the foundation is unopened, it can last for years. Although it depends on if your foundation is water or oil based. If it's water based, the shelf life is about a year and if it's oil based it can last up to two years. The only thing is if the foundation gets too old, bacteria can start to grow. But if at any time the foundation starts to change color or smells funky, TOSS IT!

Now with powder and mineral foundations, the story is a little different. With these types of foundations if the package is kept tightly sealed after each use and stored in a cool place, it should NEVER expire! Although, keep in mind that all foundations should have an expiration date on them, so pay attention to that as well as if it changes color or develops a funky smell it needs to be tossed!

Just remember that even though mineral foundation should never expire, you can introduce bacteria into it from your face and the brushes used. So I would err on the side of caution and toss mineral foundation after a year to two years just like to the regular stuff.

Next is cream and powder blush. Now you have some leeway with blushes, but usually powder blush lasts up to 24 months and cream blush lasts up to 12 to 18 months. The one thing you want to be careful about is if you use your fingers to apply cream blush because you can introduce bacteria into the product and cause it to go bad before the expiration date. As already stated, if cream or liquid blush starts to dry out or smell funky, toss it.

Onto bronzers. Cream bronzers the shelf life is 12 to 18 months and powder bronzers the shelf life is 2 years.

Face powders, the shelf life is about 2 years.

And lastly concealers last about 6 to 12 months.

As stated numerous times in this post, if any of these products start to smell funky or change color toss it! And also please note that natural cosmetics will have a shorter shelf life because they don't have chemicals in them to extend their shelf life, so toss your natural cosmetics sooner than others.

Well, thats it for this first part of this new series on expired makeup! I hope this was helpful for those of you that are new to makeup or even those that aren't, a good reminder is always helpful :) I hope y'all enjoyed this and please stay tuned for the second part which will cover the shelf life of eyeshadows, eyeliners, and mascaras.

Have a wonderful day and I'll be blogging again soon! (And hopefully getting some new videos up soon too!)

Z Palettes!!!

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a great night! I just wanted to quickly share with y'all my thoughts on the highly popular Zpalettes! I think these are a great idea for storing, traveling, etc. with any of your makeup products that have bulky packaging. I love how customizable they are, in terms of how big of a size you need    as well as the range and variety of colors to choose from!

And also the prices are not bad for one of these! The smaller size costs $14.00, the large size costs $20.00 and the Pro size costs $25.00. They each come with 10-20 metal stickers (depending on what size you get determines how many metal stickers are included) and you can put them on the back of your products that don't already have a magnetic backing on them once you have "depotted" them from their original packaging.

So y'all can get an idea of just how many products can fit in each size, here are some pictures directly from www.zpalette.com:

This is the large size and it can hold 28 MAC shadows.

This is the Dome palette and it can hold 4 MAC mineralized powders and 6 Milani mineralized eyeshadows.

This is the pro palette and it can hold 6 Cargo shadows/blushes

This is the small size and it can hold 8 Stila eyeshadows.

Now, depending on the size of the products you put in these palettes will obviously depend on how much space you have left. These are just examples from the website so you can actually see what these can hold. There is one more palette called the 4U palette and here's what it can hold:

This is the 4U palette and it can hold 15 products.

What is also cool about these is you can mix and match different products to put in these. They don't all have to be just eyeshadows, blushes, face products, etc. You can (depending on how much space you have) put for example in the large palette, maybe 18 shadows and 10 blushes.

I hope this was helpful for those of you that are interested in the Z palettes! I think these are a great investment if you're a frequent traveler or even if you just want to get rid of bulky packaging in your makeup collection, I think these would benefit you also! :) have a great night everyone and I'll be blogging again soon!

Small CVS coupon haul....

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a great Thursday morning! I just wanted to quickly share with you a small coupon haul from CVS that I did over the weekend. I had a list all set up and I knew two of the things I wanted to get were a couple of the eyeliners that my awesome friend, Emily (aka Emilynoel83) had mentioned in her "Eye Makeup Dupes: Liners and Palettes" video. So lets get started!

The first liner I picked up is the Maybelline master drama cream eyeliner pencil in Bold Brown #415. I had been wanting to find a couple good brown liners from the drugstore because my most favorite one is from Stila and I didn't want to pay $18 again for another one. I'm planning on going to Ulta and getting the liner that Emily recommended which is NYX slide on liner in "brown perfection" very soon :)

But anyways, the next liner I purchased from CVS was the Milani Liquid Eyeliner in "Green" #06. I was really interested in this product because I created an eye look last week using the green shades from the wet n wild comfort zone palette and I absolutely LOVED the way the green made my brown eyes pop! This green liner is so beautiful and I can't wait to use it! :)

And lastly this is kind of a boring product, but I needed a better eye makeup remover. I use the neutrogena deep cleansing wipes to remove my makeup, but for some reason it doesn't remove all my eye makeup. So, while I was at CVS I saw the new neutrogena extra gentle eye makeup remover pads and I ended up buying those. I opened them last night, and they do have a slight scent but its not overpowering.

So thats it for my haul! I'll be doing reviews on all these products once I've used them enough. By the way, I'll be taking a slight break from blogging and doing youtube videos next week because my church has their VBS (Vacation Bible School) that I'm teaching at for the week.

Anyways, I hope you have a great week everyone and I'll be back blogging soon! :)

Daily Nuggets.....

  • Starting my sociology and psychology classes for college soon! :)

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure review...

Hey Everyone! I hope y'all are having a fabulous day! I wanted to share with you my review on the broadway nails imPRESS press-on manicure in sexy fresh. I received these in my Spring Fever 2013 VoxBox from Influenster last week, and I wanted to highlight a few things about them. DISCLAIMER:  I received this product complimentary from influenster for testing and review purposes.

First of all, the pattern that I got called "sexy fresh" is awesome! It is a tie-dye effect in blue and orange colors, it is amazing!

I just love how fun they are! They were very easy to apply, the only thing that took awhile for me was trying to find the correct size for each of my nails. But once you applied them to your nails, they stuck extremely well to your nails. I had to really work at getting them off, so thats a plus for me because usually the artificial nails fall off pretty quickly for me.

Here is some information directly from the Influenster website:

  • Salon manicure in seconds - NO glue - No drying time - Rivals the best gel polish - Won’t damage nails - Easy removal - Lasts up to a week
  • $5.99 for colors $7.99 for patterns at CVS, CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, KMart, Walgreens, Walmart, and more.

Bottom line, I really liked these and I look forward to checking out more of the different colors and patterns! My one recommendation is if you are considering purchasing these, I would look for a coupon because I've seen them in the drugstores, etc and they are a bit expensive.

Anyways, I think thats it for this review! I hope you found it helpful and I'll be blogging again soon! And as always thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog! :)

Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes...

Hey everyone!! I hope y'all are doing well. I know that this title looks a little odd being on my beauty blog, but I said in my information about my blog that there would be some random fun thrown in :) So anyways, I received my Spring Vox Box from Influenster this morning. Now if you don't know what Influenster is, it is an online company that is free and all you do is complete different tasks to earn "badges" and those badges depending on how many you have and how often you unlock them, you can qualify for different "voxboxes" throughout the year. And based on what kinds of things you're interested in depend on what box you get. DISCLAIMER:    I received these products for review and testing purposes from Influenster.

So all that to say in my Spring vox box I got many different products to try, and this is the one I chose to review first. It is the TastyKake Kandy Bar and I got the S'mores flavor.

It was SO good!!! Loved it, very moist and just delish! ;) I really want another one, but seriously who wouldn't?!

Here's a link to the TastyKake website, so y'all can check things out for yourselves and see which flavor you like: http://www.tastykake.com/

Below is all the product information, straight from the Influenster website.

Here is some background information on how the TastyKake company got started:

As a subsidiary of Flowers Foods, the company has bakery facilities in Philadelphia and Oxford, Pa. that offer more than 100 products under the Tastykake brand name. Shop my stash & New organization storage!

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a fabulous day! I took some time last Friday night to "shop my stash" to see if I could find anything that I had been neglecting as well as just cleaning out my collection getting rid of old products.

Oh my goodness! I found a bunch of things that I hadn't used in forever! For example one of the things I found was my LORAC Pro eye palette as well as my Wet n Wild palette in "blue had me at hello" (FYI, blue had me at hello is a great palette for Spring!) among other face products.

I've put all the "neglected" products in a little plastic tub and I put it on top of my vanity so that when I'm doing my makeup in the mornings, I can incorporate the products that haven't been used in a while into my routine.

So this what I found while cleaning out my drawers in my vanity. Now there's some new stuff in there that I just recently got as well as some "oldies but goodies" :)

Here's another look at it so you can see what is on the top:

Over the weekend I used my wet n wild palette in "walking on eggshells" for a natural yet put together look for church and it turned out great! So I will most definitely be incorporating it more into my everyday routine!

Now aside from "shopping my stash" I mentioned I cleaned my drawers out and organized a little better, I ended up going to target and buying one of the Sterilite 4 drawer organizers. It was on sale so I ended up only paying $17 dollars for it!

I put the newer stuff in the organizer and kept the neglected things in my vanity. I'm going to go to either BigLots or the dollar store and get 4 of those skinny plastic pencil organizers to put in the sterilite drawers to organize things better, because right now its a mess! But here's a look at it:

So what I love about this is its got four smaller drawers (that are actually pretty deep) and then one big drawer down at the bottom for palettes, packaging, etc.

I really like this and I can't wait to see how it looks when I'm finished organizing everything!

Well, thats it for this post! I hope you enjoyed it and I'll be blogging again soon! Hopefully, I'll be putting more videos up soon as well! Have a great day everyone!

Sephora Haul: Close up pics of some of the products...

Hey Everyone! I hope y'all are having a great day! I just wanted to share with you some close up pictures of the Benefit kit, the tarte lipstick and the mascara wands that you saw in the video. Lets get started:

So first of all the Benefit kit I got is a $29 value that I got for $17. It contains poisetint, Sunbeam, and Cha Cha Tint. The bottles are significantly smaller than the full size but they will still last a long time. Here are some pictures of each of them:

So the first one in the kit (going from left to right) is called Poisetint. Here's what the bottle looks like as well as a swatch.

I like to think of this color as a light barbie pink. Its very pretty and is absolutely wearable! :)

Next in the kit is called Subeam. This is a bronze highlight, it is gorgeous! Can't wait to use it!

And lastly in the kit is Cha Cha tint, I wore this color in the video. it is a great coral color, great for spring and summer!

The next thing I got is the Tarte Glamazon 12 hour lipstick in Pure. This is a great natural, dusty pink shade. Perfect for those of you that want a natural look to your lips but not completely washed out.

(The swatch is in the middle)

The next thing is the tarte lash primer. Now this is white and you'd put this on before your mascara. I wore it today along with my Almay get up and grow mascara.

And lastly here is the Tarte gifted smart mascara wand. I've been wanting to try this for some time now and I can't wait to start using it!

Well, that is it for this blog post! I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you enjoyed the video on the rest of this haul! Here's the link to it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBKlY0hvjcI

Also, I'll have prices of everything in the extra info section of the video! So be sure to check that out :) Thanks for reading and I hope y'all have a fantastic day! :)
