My favorite makeup products for summer...

Hey everyone! I  hope everyone had a great weekend and a fantastic start to their week! I'm sorry I haven't been posting anything new, I got a new puppy on Monday and he has been keeping me very busy! He is 11 weeks old and I swear he's like a little human baby :) I only have a certain amount of time to do things before he gets fussy and he always wants to be held. So I've been busy chasing him around the past couple days, but the greatest thing is he sleeps all through the night! I put him to bed at 9pm and he sleeps until 6am without a peep the whole night. Its great! He's sleeping right now, so I have a little time to blog :)

Anyways, onto what this post is about. Its getting to be summer, so it gets pretty hot in the daytime. But what makeup products are good for summer? Which ones stand up to the heat? Here are some of my favorite makeup products for summer:

1. Tinted Moisturizer- I LOVE this stuff! I use this on a daily basis and it doesn't slide off my face at all! It is not at all greasy and it is light-medium coverage. It stands up to the heat and lasts all day long! The tinted moisturizer that I use is Sei Bella tinted moisturizer in Fawn number 8877. And I pay around $27.00 for 1.5 fluid oz. It also has an SPF of 20. This is just really great stuff! I use this in place of my foundation if I don't want too heavy of coverage.

2. Milani multi-tasker face powder- This is another great product for summer! It absorbs the oil on my face and keeps it matte most of the day, eventually before the day is out I do have to re-apply. But its great nonetheless! The shade I have it in is light/medium or number 02. I bought this off of www.cherryculture.com for $7.79.

3. Benefit Hervana Blush- This blush is gorgeous! I'm so glad I bought it! It has hardly any shimmer and it gives a really natural "flush" to your cheeks. This holds up really well in the heat and it lasts all day long! I never see it fade, it always looks like I just put it on. This is just a great blush to have in your collection! I really love this blush! I bought this at Ulta for $28.00, you can also find this at Sephora if you don't have an Ulta near you.

4. Wet n Wild eyeshadow trios and 6 color palettes- I've raved about these before in past posts, but these shades are great when standing up to heat! They don't fade and last all day long. I use too faced shadow insurance eye primer before applying these shadows and I don't have to re-apply colors at all. And I've never had it crease on me with the primer, so if you don't have an eyeshadow primer you should get one! Anyways, the wet n wild palettes I bought at Walgreens and CVS. I paid $4.99 for the trios and $6.99 for the 6-color palettes. They also have 8-color palettes, which I have one of them in blue had me at hello and I paid $7.99 for it at Walgreens.

5. Covergirl professional all in one mascara in blackest black- This has been a long time favorite of mine for summer. It doesn't flake or smudge and it doesn't run when I'm in the direct heat for a long period of time. The formula isn't too wet or dry, its right in the middle. The only thing it does, is it kind of clumps my lashes together. But other than that, its great for standing up in the heat! I bought this at Walgreens for $6.99 I believe.

6. Hard Candy Skin Perfecting face primer- This stuff is amazing!! I just recently bought this because I ran out of my smashbox photo finish light and I actually like the hard candy primer better! The reason being is because it fills in my pores and gives me a "airbrushed" look to my skin. It stays great, its not greasy and it doesn't dry my skin out. I have oily skin so it absorbs the oil quite nicely! I really love this primer and I'll absolutely be purchasing it again when I run out of it. I bought this at Walmart for $8.00.

7. Sun Shades Lip balm in Vanilla bean- This is a great chapstick! Its very moisturizing and its not greasy on my lips. I do have to re-apply throughout the day, but its a chapstick so you would have to re-apply :) But anyways, its great! It has a nice scent to it, it smells like vanilla frosting! I bought this at www.melaleuca.com for $2.25.

Well, thats it for my favorite products for summer! I hope you enjoyed this and I hope you will check these products out! Have a great day everyone! :)

Manicure Monday: Red, white & blue!

Good morning everyone! I hope y'all are having a fantastic Memorial day! I would like to puase for a second and say thank you to the men and women who served and are serving our country! We love you and we are so very grateful for you all!

I wanted to share with you a nail tutorial that I created yesterday using the red, white and blue theme for memorial day. Lets get started...

The polishes I used were: Sinful Colors white polish in "Social Ladder" and Sinful Colors red polish in "Under 18" and the blue polish I used was: Wild and Crazy polish in "Victoria".

The first thing I did was I applied sally hansen clear base and top coat polish to my nails, I let that dry then I applied sinful colors polish in social ladder to my nails. I let the white dry, then I applied to half of my nail the sinful colors polish in under 18. After that dried, I applied wild and crazy polish in victoria about half way down my nails. To complete my fun manicure, I applied avon nailwear pro sparkly polish. Finally after that dried, I applied sally hansen clear base and top coat to my nails.

Thats it! I hope you enjoyed this patriotic nail tutorial! Have a great day everyone! :)

Stash Shopping! Dusty rose & Pink...

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a great weekend! I was inspired by emilynoel83 (www.beautybroadcast.net) and (www.youtube.com/emilynoel83) to do a post on what I found "stash shopping" in my makeup collection. Basically, you go through your collection and find items that don't get used much and you incorporate them into your makeup routine. So here are the items I found in my collection.....

These are some great products that I know I enjoy, I just haven't taken them out and used them very often for some reason. I noticed I was grabbing lipsticks with a dusty rose/pink theme! :) I also realized I forgot to add an eye pencil, but I'll add it next time :)

Face....(top center)

In order left to right:
  • Covergirl fresh complexion concealer
  • Sei bella blush in Peach Satin
  • Revlon custom creations liquid foundation
  • Sei bella mineral powder foundation in light

Eyes.....(middle)

Ok, so I realized I did this backwards. So you're looking at the list and the items from right to left instead of left to right, sorry!
  • Coastal scents 88 warm palette
  • Wet n wild 8 color palette in blue had me at hello
  • Wet n wild trio in Knock on wood
  • Wet n wild trio in cool as a cucumber

Lips....(left side)

In order left to right:
  • Sei bella lipstick in sugarplum
  • Revlon super lustrous lipstick champagne on ice
  • Revlon super lustrous lipstick blushed

Well, thats it! I hope you got some inspiration to look through your collections to find some items that need some TLC :) I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and I'll be blogging again soon! Have a great night everyone! :)

How I clean my makeup brushes....

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a great Thursday morning!! I just wanted to share with you the way that I clean my makeup brushes. My brushes that I have are on the cheaper side, I got them from www.bundlemonster.com for $18.75. They work great, but when I wash them they shed just a little bit. So I'm really looking into investing in the Sigma brushes sometime when I have the money. Anyways, lets get started...

I got some really great tips from Marlena (www.youtube.com/makeupgeektv) so check her site out! I love her and her videos are so helpful! Anyways, the first thing I do is I wash my brushes with some regular shampoo from my shower and after they are all clean, I let them air dry overnight. Then I got this really good tip from Marlena, you get some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and clean the handles. And she also suggested to take a clear nail poish and paint over the names of the brushes, so they don't fade and you will still be able to see which brush you're using. Marlena also has a blog: www.simplymarlena.com so you can get tips there too! :)

So that is what I do to clean my brushes, there is a great brush cleaner recipe from www.youtube.com/enkoremakeup This guy is great! This brush cleaner is not for deep clean, its just for in between applications. But nonetheless, its still great! So go check him out.

I hope y'all are having a great day and I'll be blogging again soon!! :)

Natural eye makeup tutorial....

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a fantastic Wednesday afternoon! I wanted to share with you this very natural eye look that I just created using a maybelline color tattoo cream eyeshadow and one shade from wet n wild's palette walking on eggshells. Lets get started....

FACE:

  • Hard candy skin perfecting face primer
  • Sei bella tinted moisturizer in Fawn
  • Rimmel natural bronzer in sunlight
  • Milani multi-tasker face powder

EYES:

  • Too faced shadow insurance
  • Maybelline color tattoo cream eyeshadow in bad to the bronze
  • Wet n wild color icon eyeshadow trio in walking on eggshells
  • Lo'real voluminous extra volume collegen masacra in black/brown

LIPS:

  • Sei bella lipstick in politely pink

So the first thing I did was I primed my eyes with too faced shadow insurance. I let that dry for 10 seconds, then I applied maybelline color tattoo cream eyeshadow in bad to the bronze to my lids. Taking a crease brush, I went to my wet n wild walking on eggshells eyeshadow palette and I applied the light pink shade to my crease and I blended that out. Next, I applied l'oreal voluminous extra collegen mascara in black/brown to my top and bottom lashes. Finally, to complete my entire look, I applied sei bella lipstick in politely pink to my lips.

And thats it! Its very natural and very easy. I love this look for daytime! I hope y'all enjoyed this and I hope you will try it out! Have a great day everyone! :)

Rediscovered makeup loves....

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a great Tuesday afternoon! I wanted to share with you a few products that I found in the back of my "FACE" drawer in my makeup collection and I also found a couple lipsticks in an old makeup bag, that are rediscovered favorites! Also all these products are from Melaleuca, an online catalog store thats super easy to shop, has affordable prices and has awesome products. They carry anything from cleaning products for your home, personal care products and beauty productsto products for your medicine cabinet. All their products are safer, so all the nasty things that companies put in their cleaning products, and beauty products are all taken out. I really recommend trying this company out. Let me know if you want further information. Anyways, lets get started.....

So the first product is a powder blush called "Peach Satin". This blush is gorgeous! Its a nice pink shade with a tiny but of shimmer in it. Here are some swatches of the shade, Its kind of hard to see because it is such a natural pink shade.

This is such a beautiful color! I hit pan on this a long time ago, this actually was the first blush I ever owned when I first started wearing makeup at age 13. So I've had this for quite a few years and I had forgotten about it until now. When you go shopping at www.melaleuca.com you can buy this blush for as little as $14.00 compared to Benefit which runs around $28.00 which is twice as much. It is a gorgeous blush and I recommend you try it out!

The next rediscovered favorite I found is a mineral foundation in "light". This is a powder foundation. Its really nice, I enjoy it alot! Although, I haven't used in it a really long time. Please keep in mind all these products that I'm mentioning are from my "starter kit" that my mom got me when I was 13. I have since repurchased these products, but I haven't used them in quite a while. Anyways, here are some swatches of the foundation:

I really like this foundation and I can't wait to start using it again! I think this is my second jar and I'm almost out of it, so this is definitely a LOVE! You can buy this mineral foundation for as little as $18.00 through Melaleuca.com. Compared to BareMinerals foundation which runs around $27.00. With Melaleuca's mineral foundation you get .88 oz or 25 grams compared to BareMinerals foundation which gives you .28 oz.

Lastly, I found some really great lipsticks. They are very moisturizing and both have some shine to them. Here are some swatches of them:

The shade on the top is called "Politely Pink" and the bottom shade is called "Sugarplum". Politely Pink has more of a sheen to it than Sugarplum which is a frosty shade with some shimmer in it. This lipstick sells for as little as $12.50 through Melaleuca.com. Comparable to MAC lipsticks which run around $14.50 and you get more bang for your buck getting the lipstick from Melaleuca because with Melaleuca's lipstick you get .14 oz or 4 grams compared to MAC lipstick which gives you .1 oz or 3 grams.

This beauty line is called Sei Bella and its comparable to high end and department store brands like Clinique, Este Lauder, Benefit, Too Faced, Urban Decay, and MAC but Sei Bella cosmetics are safer for your skin.

Well, thats it! I hope you enjoyed these rediscovered favorites and I hope you will go check them out for yourselves! Have a great day everyone!

Best products for school, a date, church and an interview....

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a great Monday night! I was given another awesome suggestion by emilynoel83 (of beauty broadcast) to do the best products for school, a date, church and an interview. So I've got a lot of things to cover, so lets get started....

I'll start with the best products for school: Whether you're in Middle school, High school or college you want your makeup to look as natural as possible. I think the best products for school would be: foundation, blush, a natural eye look, mascara and a nude lipstick. Completely natural, but yet still looking put together. A great brand that I would recommend for foundation would be: Revlon custom creations liquid foundation. If you have oily skin, liquid might not be the best option for you, people with oily skin might want to try a powder foundation. For people with dry or combination skin I would recommend  a liquid foundation like Revlon or a great tinted moisturizer that I use is Sei Bella tinted moisturizer. As for blush, I would say people with oily skin might want to use a powder blush such as: Benefit Hervana blush or I also have used Nicole Miller powder blush in Peach Satin. For a natural eye look, I would use light browns on your lids and maybe a nice peachy tone shade in your crease. Nothing too dark, because it is daytime. A product I would recommend is: Wet n wild walking on eggshells eyeshadow trio, this trio is great because you can wear this for any occasion. For mascara, I recommend L'oreal voluminous extra volume collegen mascara. And lastly for a nude lipstick, I would recommend Revlon super lustrous lipstick in petal. This lipstick is great because its a nice pinky color but yet natural.

Next, the best products for a date: Now this is a special occasion, so I would make your look a little more dramatic. I think you could just stay with the same products from the natural school look, but switch out the natural lip color for a brighter pink or a red lipstick then also add some winged liner to your upper lash line. For a brighter pink lipstick I would recommend: Revlon colorburst lip butter in pink truffle and some great eye liners I would recommend are: Maybelline master drama eyeliner pencil or a high end brand that I love would be Stila kajal eyeliner, you could also do L.A. Girl fine line liquid eyeliner pen.

Now onto the best products for church:  This is another occasion that I would keep very natural. I would do the same look as you did for school with the exception of replacing the walking on eggshells palette with wet n wild vanity palette.

And finally, the best products for an interview: The best products for an interview I would say would be: revlon custom creations liquid foundation, benefit hervana blush, wet n wild eyeshadow palette in vanity, lo'real voluminous extra volume collegen mascara, revlon colorburst lip butter in pink truffle. With this look you are put together, but not too overdone.

Ok, well thats it! I hope you enjoyed this post and please feel free to give feedback, I would appreciate it! Have a great night everyone! :)

Hard candy skin perfecting face primer review...

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a fantastic Saturday morning! I just wanted to share with you my review on the hard candy skin perfecting face primer that I bought last week. Lets get started....

So my first impression is that I am IN LOVE with this primer! When you first put this on your face, it comes off with an oily consistancy but its so silky smooth as well. After it dries, it no longer leaves that oily feeling. The difference about the skin perfecting one and the regular one is that this one fills in your pores and gives you that "flawless finish". Which I LOVE! Lets look at the pros and cons of this primer.

PROS:

  • Excellent price
  • Silky consistancy
  • Flawless finish on your skin
  • Cute packaging
  • Doesn't make my skin oily
  • Love that it has the squeeze tube container
  • Evens out my skin tone

CONS:

  • Applies with an oily consistancy before it dries

It lives up to the claims it gives, which is great! All in all, I LOVE this primer and will for sure be purchasing again when I run out. I actually believe this is better than the smashbox primer :) Anyways, thats it for my review! Have a great day!

FACE:

  • Hard candy skin perfecting face primer
  • Revlon Custom creations liquid foundation in 020 (light/pale)

  • Milani multi-tasker face powder

Bronze/brown eyeshadow tutorial....

Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you an eyeshadow tutorial using one of my favorite wet n wild palettes called Vanity! This look is very sexy but yet natural. The two shades I use from this palette are both gorgeous! Lets get started...

FACE:

  • Hard candy skin perfecting face primer
  • Sei bella tinted moisturizer in fawn
  • Rimmel natural bronzer in sunlight
  • Milani multi-tasker face powder

EYES:

  • Too faced shadow insurance
  • Wet n wild vanity eyeshadow palette
  • Lo'real voluminous extra volume collegen mascara in black/brown

LIPS:

  • Sun shades lip balm in Vanilla bean

Ok, so the first I did was I primed my eyes with too faced shadow insurance and I let that dry for 10 seconds, then I went straight to my wet n wild vanity palette and taking a flat eyeshadow brush I applied the last dark shimmery brown shade on the right side of the palette to my lids. Next I took a crease brush and applied the second shade on the left side of the palette to my crease and I blended that out. Keep in mind I wanted this to be a softer look for daytime, so I put the light brown matte shade in my crease but you could totally make it darker by applying a different dark shade. Anyways, after I applied that light brown matte shade to my crease I applied my lo'real voluminous extra volume collegen mascara in black/brown to my top and bottom lashes. To complete my entire look, I applied sun shades lip balm in vanilla bean to my lips.

Well, thats it! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I hope you will try it out! Have a great day y'all!! :D

Senior Prom makeup tutorial!!!

Hey everyone! So I was going to post this when I got home from my senior prom last night, but I ended up getting home at about 1:30AM and I was just way too tired to post anything. But I had a fantastic time at the dance! I learned the cha cha and the swing, so that was fun! My dance partners were very nice guys :) Anyways, lets get into the tutorial.... Oh and I took these pictures when I got home this morning, so keep in mind when I took these it was 1:30 in the morning. So please forgive me if I look a little tired, I had been awake for 19 hours straight :)

FACE:

  • Hard Candy Skin Perfecting face primer
  • Sei bella tinted moisturizer in Fawn
  • Benefit Hervana blush
  • Milani multi-tasker face powder

EYES:

  • Too faced shadow insurance
  • Wet n wild trio in Cool as a cucumber
  • Lo'real extra volume collegen mascara

LIPS:

  • Sun shades lip balm in Vanilla bean

Now onto the tutorial:

So the first thing I did was I primed my eyes with too faced shadow insurance and after I let that dry for 10 seconds, I went straight to my wet n wild cool as a cucumber trio and taking a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied the green shade that says "eyelid" all over my lids. Then taking a crease brush, I applied the middle purple/plum shade that says "crease" to my crease and I blended that out. Using the same crease brush, I applied the lighter shade that says "browbone" to my browbone and I blended that out. Finally, I applied my lo'real extra volume collegen mascara in black/brown to my top and bottom lashes. To complete my entire look, I applied sun shades lip balm in vanilla bean to my lips.

And here's the finished product-My dress and everything!

Well, thats it for the tutorial! I hope y'all have a great day and I'll be blogging again soon! :) A review will be coming soon on the hard candy face primer, so keep your eyes out for that :)

Walmart Haul....

Hey everyone! So I just wanted to share with y'all my very small haul from Walmart. I just got back from purchasing the Hard Candy Skin Perfecting face primer! I'm so thrilled with this primer, I put it on my hand to see how it felt and oh my goodness it is so silky! It feels just like the smashbox photo finish light except without the ridiculous price :) I paid $8.62 for this primer and as of now I believe it is a dupe for the smashbox primer! I haven't tried it on my face yet, but I think I'm really going to like it.

You get 1.3 oz of product and it actually has a nice scent to it. I can't quite put my finger on what the scent smells like, but it smells really good. I'm very happy that I made the purchase and if I really love it, I'll absolutely buy it again!

Just to give you a size difference between the hard candy primer and the smashbox primer, as I said the hard candy primer you get 1.3 oz and the smashbox primer you get .5 oz. Now the smashbox primer I have is the travel size, so the full size is obviously bigger. But the hard candy primer is absolutely the better buy for the price and for the quantity of the product. Don't get me wrong, I love the smashbox primer its just that I don't want to pay $15 everytime I buy it. I wanted to find something that was a low cost alternative but was an exact dupe for the smashbox primer. And I can see myself paying the $8 for the hard candy primer more than I can the smashbox primer.

Anyways, the first impression of the hard candy primer is that I love it! I'll give a more in depth review when I've used it for a couple weeks. Have a great day everyone! I'll be posting my prom makeup tutorial that I'll wear for prom tonight, hopefully when I get home. But if not, I'll take pictures of it tonight and post it tomorrow morning.

April Favorites....

Hey Everyone! I hope y'all are having a great Friday afternoon! I just wanted to share with you my April favorites :) there will be a couple of hair products, a couple skincare products and then mostly makeup products. So lets get started....

So the first favorite I have is a shampoo. This shampoo called Matrix Biolage Scalp Therapie is something I got from my hair salon about a month ago and I really like it! It helps with my dry scalp and leaves it feeling very clean. You are supposed to leave it on your hair for 5 minutes, then rinse. I wash with this shampoo every Monday morning and the rest of the week I use Affinia Moisturizing Shampoo. These are both great shampoos and I really enjoy them! :)

My next favorite is Clean and Clear advantage acne control kit. I love this kit because it really clears my skin up quickly. I use it for 3 weeks morning and night when my skin is at its worst, and it just really helps! (see my most recent post for my skincare routine if you're interested). The rest of the time I use Clean and Clear morning burst fruit infusions purifying cleanser. The fruit infusions cleanser smells so good, it smells like manderine oranges! Both of these skincare products are amazing! :)

Next, my favorite eye primer I've been using is too faced shadow insurance. This is a great primer because it doesn't make my lids oily and it keeps my shadows from creasing all day long! Its a great primer! I purchased it at Sephora last year and I suggest you pick this up! :)

My favorite face primer which I just ran out of is Smashbox photo finish light face primer. This primer is awesome! As soon as I apply it to my face, it makes my smooth and even. Its great! I got this at Ulta last year and I just ran out of it, but I'm not willing to pay the $15 price tag for the travel size again so I think I'm going to go to Walmart and pick up hard candy sheer emvy face primer for $8 instead.

My favorite pencil eyeliner is Stila Kajal eyeliner in Tiger's eye. I love this liner! Its so natural yet you can make it dramatic. I'm bummed because its down to a stub and I tried to sharpen it and I broke it off :( so I guess I'm going to have to pay $18 and go get a new one.

My favorite blush is Benefit Hervana Blush. This blush is amazing!!! I love the way it gives my cheeks a nice "flush" of color but its not overpowering.

My next favorites are Wet n Wild vanity eyeshadow palette and physician's formula shimmer strips nude eyes palette. Both of these palettes are gorgeous! The vanity palette has 6 shades. One side is shimmery and the other side is matte, so both can double for either a day look or a night look. Same goes for the physician's formula palette, the shades can be used for a day look or a night look. The wet n wild palette is extremely pigmented which is great, while the physician's formula palette isn't very pigmented at all unfortunately. But I love both palettes!

This is the Wet n Wild Vanity palette

This is the physician's formula nude eyes palette

My favorite mascara is Lo'real voluminous extra volume collegen mascara in blackest black. I love this mascara! It keeps my lashes separated, gives them somewhat of volume, all with very little clumping. So its a great mascara, really enjoying it! :)

As for lips, I really don't have a favorite yet. But I'll put one up as soon as I find one :)

The bronzer I really like is Rimmel Natural bronzer in sunlight. Its a great matte bronzer, and its great for contouring or just applying for a little "bronzed" look.

Well, I think thats about it for my April favorites! I hope y'all enjoyed this and if you have any questions or comments just leave them below in the comments section and I'll try to answer them for you! Have a great night everyone! :) TGIF! :)

My Skincare Routine....

Hey Everyone! Sorry it has been a few days since I blogged, things have been really crazy with school and extra after school music activities. But anyways, I wanted to share with y'all my daily skincare routine. So lets get started....

So my day starts out usually at 6:00am and I take my showers in the mornings, so after I've washed my body and shampooed my hair, I wash my face. My morning routine right now is I'm using Clean and Clear's Advantage Acne Control Kit. It contains: Advantage Acne Control Cleanser, Acne Control Moisturizer and Acne Control Fast Clearing Spot Treatment. I use this kit when my skin is at its worst and I need something that will make my skin clear fast. This is effective for my oily skin and acne prone skin because it has Benzoyl Peroxide in it. It's a great kit! I really like it! This kit costs $19.99, I personally purchased mine at CVS but I'm sure you can get it elsewhere.

So that is what I use in the mornings at the moment, but at night I use Clean and clear morning burst Fruit infusions Facial purifying cleanser. I have to say, this cleanser smells SO GOOD!! Oh my goodness, it smells like oranges! I also use this cleanser when I stop using the acne control kit, so I'll use the fruit infusions cleanser in the mornings and at night.

I picked this up also at CVS just recently for $6.99. My day usually ends around 9:00pm-10:00pm and I also at night before I wash my face with this cleanser, I use Pond's evening soothe wet cleansing towelettes Chamomile & white tea. I use these to remove all my makeup first before I cleanse my face. I really like these makeup wipes, I've also used the Clean and Clear makeup wipes and I really like those! I picked up both the Pond's makeup wipes and the clean and clear makeup wipes at Walgreen's for $6.99 each. I have the 30 count of the Pond's wipes also.

Well, thats it for my skincare routine! I hope you enjoyed this and I'll be blogging again hopefully on Saturday :) have a great night everyone!
